For the 2017 calendar year, Stone Mountain Park brings you Dinosaur Explore. The prehistoric creature collection features more than 20 life-size dinosaurs with special effects allowing them to move and roar just like their ancient ancestors.
Each year, Stone Mountain Park or SMP; brings in something new and exciting to keep things fresh. This year it is Dinosaurs. The whole park has gone prehistoric.
Our favorite sub-zero heroes, Manny, Ellie, and Diego venture into a mysterious underground world after Sid the Sloth stumbles across three abandoned eggs and decides to raise the baby dinosaurs as his own. Once the eggs hatch, the adventure begins in the lost world of the dinosaurs! Featured in eye-popping 4-D with an all-star voice cast, including Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary and Queen Latifah, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs delivers more thrills, more chills, and more mammoth-sized laughs for everyone!
What was the Great Barn is now the Dinotorium. The Dinotoriumis said to be run by the mad scientist Dr. McCavius. Here your child can explore 4 levels of activities and games all themed around Dinosaurs and dare I say, educational. Shh! Well, keep that as a secret from the kids. They won’t know as they will be having lots of fun learning to be a Ranger-In-Training.
Once you enter, it is very inviting and open. The paths are wide and easy to navigate. Those with strollers and/or wheelchairs will have an easy time getting through.
DIVA said her favorite was the Tyrannosaurus Rex who living up to its nickname of King of Dinosaurs; is standing right at the highest point of the trail overlooking the rest of these majestic creatures.
Lil Man loved the freedom of being able to walk and explore, even getting right up close to a few. There is a fence to keep guest on the outside and signs explaining facts about each Dinosaur. The sounds were not too loud for him and he didn’t show any fear with their movements.
As you are about to exit the exhibit there is a sand-filled area called Dino Dig. Here your little Rangers can be a paleontologist and dig for their own Dino Bones.
Dinosaur Explore is open on Attraction Open days and just in time Spring Break here in the Atlanta area. The price is included in a daily Adventure Pass and an annual Mountain Membership.
